Job Description As a Juvenile Detention Officer - Unarmed in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help maintain a secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, managing visitor access, and documenting security-related activity. You will provide professional customer service, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and use technology to support daily operations. Pay Rate: $17.00 / Hour

Job Schedule: DayTime Tue 05:45 PM - 06:00 AM Fri 05:45 PM - 06:00 AM Sun 05:45 PM - 06:00 AM

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or members of the public while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile justice location.
• Monitor access points, verify identification and authorization, manage visitor entry procedures, and maintain accurate access-related records in accordance with site policies.
• Control entry and exit at assigned posts, report unauthorized access attempts, suspicious activity, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
