About the job

This is a growth role for someone early in their product career who is ready to take on real ownership while learning alongside experienced product leaders. From day one, you’ll work with real product backlogs, participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborate with engineering and business teams, and help move products from idea through delivery across healthcare SaaS, fintech, and B2B platforms. We’re not expecting you to have done it all. We’re looking for strong instincts, curiosity, organization, clear communication, and the drive to learn quickly.

Core Responsibilities

Vision & Context

  • Develop a strong understanding of the product vision, business goals, user feedback, and market context behind roadmap priorities.
  • Understand and communicate the “why” behind the work to engineering, business, design, and other stakeholders.
  • Focus on outcomes over outputs and ask thoughtful questions about why something is being built and what success should look like.
  • Work with senior product leadership to translate roadmap themes into clear, sprint-ready work.

Backlog Ownership

  • Create, groom, and prioritize an organized and current backlog, including stories, epics, spikes, and bugs.
  • Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Work proactively to clarify requirements, edge cases, dependencies, and success metrics before development begins.
  • Review completed work against acceptance criteria and raise questions when requirements or outcomes are unclear.
  • Continuously improve backlog quality based on feedback from engineering, stakeholders, and users.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a bridge between engineering, business, design, and end users.
  • Gather input, identify competing priorities, and surface potential conflicts early.
  • Come to prioritization conversations prepared with recommendations, not just a list of options.
  • Communicate progress, expectations, decisions, and potential risks proactively.
  • Know when to make decisions independently and when something should be escalated to senior product leadership.

Agile Process Execution

  • Run backlog grooming and daily standups, both async and synchronous as appropriate.
  • Support and actively participate in sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives alongside senior product leadership.
  • Make timely decisions within your scope to help keep the team moving.
  • Keep Linear, roadmaps, status boards, and other product documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Document key decisions and updates so distributed team members have the context they need.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Track KPIs, user metrics, and feedback loops and help define meaningful measures of success.
  • Learn to use data, user feedback, and business needs to inform product recommendations.
  • Support A/B testing, user research, and analytics integration throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ask questions when the data or desired outcome isn’t clear.

Collaboration & Communication

Async-First Operator

You understand that strong documentation is critical on a distributed team. You clearly document requirements, decisions, priorities, and updates so teammates across locations and time zones have the information they need.

Clear Communicator

You communicate directly and clearly without unnecessary jargon. Your updates and documentation make it easy for others to understand what’s happening and what they need to do next.

Open to Feedback

You actively seek feedback from users, stakeholders, engineers, and teammates—and apply that feedback to improve your work.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is curious, proactive, organized, and excited to grow into product ownership. You don’t need to have all the answers on day one, but you should be comfortable asking questions, seeking context, and proposing solutions.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
  • Ask questions rather than make assumptions when something isn’t clear.
  • Are comfortable respectfully challenging assumptions and raising concerns.
  • Can organize competing priorities and bring structure to ambiguity.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teammates.
  • Are coachable and able to turn feedback into improvement.
  • Take initiative while recognizing when to ask for support or escalate a decision.

Nice to Have

Technical Curiosity

You can follow—or are interested in learning to follow—engineering conversations about APIs, data models, integrations, and system constraints. You ask questions that help clarify the work.

Design Sensibility

You enjoy partnering with designers and thinking through user flows, usability, and potential friction points.

Product or Release Exposure

You’ve had some exposure to taking a feature, project, or product from idea through delivery, even if you were supporting someone else along the way.

Domain Exposure

Experience or interest in healthcare, fintech, B2B SaaS, or other technology-driven environments is a plus.

Certifications

CSPO or PSPO I certification is welcome but not required. We value judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn over credentials alone.

Where This Role Goes

This role is designed to grow into a full Product Owner position with increasing responsibility for a product or product area. As you develop your product judgment, technical understanding, and ability to independently manage priorities and stakeholders, you’ll have opportunities to take on greater ownership of product strategy, roadmap decisions, and delivery. Strong performance in this role can lead to increased ownership and progression into a full Product Owner role.
