About this role
Job title: Junior Flight Software Engineer for Automatic Code Gen
About the Role Indra Group is expanding its Space Engineering team and seeks a Junior Flight Software Engineer for Automatic Code Gen. The role focuses on architecting and implementing GNC algorithms in Matlab/Simulink, developing tools for automatic code generation and testing, and supporting integration, validation, and documentation across facilities.
What You'll Do
- Introduce the SW architecture in GNC Algorithms implemented in Matlab Simulink.
- Spread and maintain modelling guidelines for GNC Algorithms.
- Participate in the Unit Testing of the GNC Algorithm components (model and software levels).
- Maintain and develop in-house tools relying on the MathWorks environment for: generating code from the GNC Algorithms, testing in Model-in-the-loop, SW-in-the-loop and Processor-in-the-loop and obtaining artifacts from the GNC Algorithms.
- Implement SW components for low-level communications with sensors and actuators.
- Support the SW integration for creating the OBSW.
- Support validation in different testing facilities.
- Generate the documentation associated to the GNC Software (from requirements, development and validations plans, to ICDs and validation reports).
- Interaction with technicians from other Competence Centres inside the Company or customers.
What We're Looking For
- Education: an engineering degree (Computer Sciences, Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications) or a related degree (e.g. Aerospace) with demonstrable experience in computer systems and software engineering; Postgraduate studies (MSc or Ph.D) with a focus on software engineering, real-time software or embedded systems design.
- 1 to 2 years of practical experience in domains relevant to the role.
- Knowledge of Model-based design and implementation: Matlab or Simulink design and automatic code generation with Embedded Coder.
- Solid theoretical background in Software Engineering, including testing and verification along the Software lifecycle: SW verification and validation, Unit and integration testing.
- Good programming skills in C, Python; knowledge of software configuration control (e.g., GIT, SVN).
- Willingness to participate in the generation of project documentation, including requirements specifications, SW design, and other engineering documentation.
Nice to Have
- Experience in PIL/HIL test benches: RTTB, FVB, SCOE, EGSE; Unit testers for validation and qualification of software systems.
- DevOps infrastructure: Continuous integration strategies and tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, SonarQube).
- Practical experience in communication buses, drivers and associated protocols: CAN, 1553, SpaceWire, Serial, etc.
Compensation & Benefits
- Work-life balance with a flexible and autonomous working model.
- Career development opportunities aligned with your skills and aspirations.
- Continuous learning through on-the-job training and access to our learning platform.
