Job Description Guinea Insurance plc is seeking a motivated Junior Backend Developer to join our growing team in Lagos.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of our core software systems, ensuring robust and efficient backend operations. You will work with modern technologies to build and integrate APIs, manage databases, and support our digital initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy backend code using PHP/Laravel, JavaScript, and/or Node.js.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations.
• Manage and optimize database schemas and queries.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and other stakeholders to deliver features.
• Utilize Git/GitHub for version control and Postman for API testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues to ensure system stability.

Qualifications

• First Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.

• Completed NYSC program with evidence of completion/exemption.

• 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in software/backend development.

• Practical experience with PHP/Laravel, JavaScript and/or Node.js.

• Experience developing, consuming, or integrating RESTful APIs.

• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub, Postman, and SQL/database concepts.

• Practical experience building applications with Laravel.

• Experience developing backend services with Node.js.

• Experience integrating third-party APIs.
