About the Role The Junior AV Systems Engineer at Regent University supports the audio/visual infrastructure for classrooms and events across campus, reporting to the Director of Classroom Engineering. This role encompasses engineering, planning, control system programming, installation, maintenance, and performance of all university audiovisual systems, including the upcoming Athletic Complex.

What You'll Do

• Provide support engineering, control system programming, installation, maintenance, administration and technical performance for all university-operated audio/visual and event lighting systems.
• Maintain and repair all audiovisual systems; determine when outside repair is warranted and coordinate or perform necessary maintenance or repairs.
• Support the primary administrator over network-based AV/lighting systems: monitor system health, perform routine software/hardware updates, consult with manufacturers, and execute field repairs as needed.
• Report on systems to track usage, monitor maintenance schedules, and repairs.
• Participate in planning AV installations, events, and other university AV/lighting/production needs.
• Provide training and supervision to Media Services Student Workers and Graduate Assistants.
• Keep inventory of university media equipment up to date.
• Monitor network-based AV systems; troubleshoot basic issues with Dante audio, AV-over-IP, and SMPTE ST 2110 devices; report connectivity or performance concerns to senior engineers.
• Assist with documentation of AV system configurations, network connections, and as-built drawings.
• Help with fiber optic patching, cable termination, and basic splicing under supervision.
• Additional Responsibilities: Oversee instruction of audiovisual equipment in technology-equipped rooms; recommend purchases and repairs; assist with university events as needed; participate in staff training; assist with cable pathway surveys and site assessments to support new installations; assist with safely operating vehicles for transport and delivery of AV equipment.

What We're Looking For

• One to three years minimum experience required; three to five years preferred, using standard audiovisual equipment (sound, video, film, and PCs), preferably in an academic or related environment.
• Formal training with industry certification and/or the ability to demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
• Ability to occasionally move equipment, climb ladders, and lift equipment of 50-75 lbs.
• Familiarity with SMPTE ST 2110 professional media over IP standards is a plus; willingness to learn is required.
• Basic familiarity with fiber optic patching, termination types, and splicing concepts; hands-on training provided.

• Familiarity with SMPTE ST 2110 is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 annually.
