Job title: Junior Architectural Designer
About the Role Turkel Design is seeking a full-time in-office Junior Architectural Designer in our Somerville, MA office to learn, grow, and contribute to a dynamic, mentorship-driven practice that pushes the envelope on design and fabrication.
What You'll Do
- Prepare client, builder, fabricator, and installer-facing documentation and drawings from Schematic Design through Product Procurement and Installation.
- Perform regulatory research and create digital site models to illustrate them and existing conditions, using advanced site scanning technology.
- Develop processes for leveraging emerging technology to streamline the fabrication of custom cabinetry.
- Create compelling imagery for marketing and to help our clients visualize and specify products.
- Work as a member of our Creative Team to support the firm’s design, fabrication, and marketing goals.
What We're Looking For
- A professional degree in Architecture.
- 1-5 years of professional architecture work experience.
- Proficiency in SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency with rendering software—Lumion is preferred.
- Experience with LayOut, Mozaik, and Revit is preferred.
- A strong candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and highly self-motivated; fun, sharp, enthusiastic; committed to quality; pride of authorship; strong written, verbal, and graphic communication.
- Enjoys identifying problems and working with others to find creative solutions; able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines; able to multi-task across different project types.
Nice to Have
- Experience with advanced site scanning technology and a hands-on approach to fabrication and visualization is a plus.
