Junior Accountant - Nairobi
Role Objective We are seeking a Junior Accountant on behalf of our client. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance and accounting function, ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly documented, and processed in line with company policies and statutory requirements.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the processing and recording of invoices, payments, petty cash, and other accounting transactions.
- Review financial documents to ensure they are complete, accurate, and properly authorized before processing.
- Support petty cash management, including documentation, reconciliation, and replenishment.
- Assist with preparation of cash books, bank reconciliations, and other routine accounting schedules.
- Support the preparation and submission of statutory deductions and other required payments.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records and filing financial documents.
- Support banking activities, including obtaining bank statements and handling approved banking transactions.
- Assist with monitoring expenditure, budgets, and cash flow.
- Prepare basic financial reports and schedules as required by management.
- Ensure financial records and transactions comply with internal procedures and applicable statutory requirements.
- Provide general accounting support to the finance team and undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a service-provider environment will be an added advantage.
- Minimum CPA II or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Good practical understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, cash management, bank reconciliations, and financial record keeping.
