About the Role Join the New Jersey Judiciary as a Clerk in the Morris/Sussex Vicinage, providing essential administrative and clerical support to the division. You will work in a customer-service oriented environment with strong technical and interpersonal requirements to help maintain court operations and accurate records, with hybrid remote opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Perform court clerking duties in the Civil Division, including operating digital recording systems, maintaining accurate records and logs of in-court activities, marking exhibits, and administering oaths.
- Moderate virtual hearings and complete court-related paperwork; assist judges, the public, and staff with inquiries.
- Provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers in person at the intake counter, over the phone and via written communication; compile and enter data in computer systems; verify records for accuracy; schedule and coordinate conferences, hearings, trials and other court events.
- Maintain and update court calendars; annotate and manage the court calendar; manage custody of exhibits; administer juror oaths; update case information; inform court users of filing delinquencies.
- Work either on-site in a courtroom or in virtual settings as needed; maintain regular and predictable presence.
What We're Looking For
- One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services including keyboarding and one or more of the following: document/information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts, and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work with diverse stakeholders; strong organizational and data entry skills; ability to follow directions and use office software.
- Willingness to work in a setting that may require on-site or virtual courtroom duties and adherence to confidentiality and security requirements.
- Physical ability to perform duties as needed (some positions may require climbing, prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of supplies up to 50 pounds).

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges: Schedule A $45,877.84 to $69,484.11; Schedule B $45,877.84 to $62,203.88. Newly hired employees typically start at the minimum of the range. For current Judiciary employees promoted, salary increases are typically 5% of base salary.
