Jr. Accountant

We are looking for an Junior Accountant to join a growing team in Irvine, California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent position is well suited for someone starting their accounting career who wants hands-on experience across core financial processes in a supportive environment. The role offers full training and a chance to build practical knowledge in transactional accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities while working closely with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• • Support day-to-day accounting operations by assisting with invoice processing, payment tracking, and customer billing activities.

• • Help maintain accurate financial records by preparing account reconciliations and reviewing discrepancies for resolution.

• • Assist with bank reconciliations to ensure cash activity is properly recorded and matched to supporting documentation.

• • Prepare and post journal entries under guidance, ensuring entries are complete, timely, and aligned with accounting standards.

• • Contribute to general ledger maintenance by organizing financial data and verifying the accuracy of recorded transactions.

• • Work with team members across departments to gather information, clarify accounting details, and keep records up to date.

• • Use accounting systems and spreadsheets to enter, monitor, and retrieve financial information efficiently.

• • Participate in training and apply new accounting procedures, tools, and best practices as part of ongoing development.

• At least 1 year of accounting experience or equivalent exposure to foundational accounting tasks.

• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliation activities.

• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger processes, and basic accounting entries.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review financial information carefully and accurately.

• Analytical thinking skills and the ability to investigate variances or transaction issues.

• Effective communication skills and a resourceful approach to completing assignments and solving problems.

• Experience with Sage accounting software is helpful, though training will be provided.
