Journeyman Plant Electrician

About the Role Journeyman Plant Electrician responsible for plant electrical generating systems and support equipment, ensuring they are in proper working condition for maximum production of electrical energy under the direction of the Plant Manager. What You'll Do

• Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical generating systems, support equipment, control circuits, alarms, interlock and fire protection systems to ensure reliable and safe electric generation.
• Calibrate and maintain electrical equipment including oil circuit breakers, generator complex components, instrument transformers, and high voltage switchgear.
• Set up and test electrical equipment with measuring devices; locate faults and malfunctions.
• Work from blueprints, manufacturer bulletins, and manuals to install, troubleshoot, or maintain equipment.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklift, crane, backhoe, cherry picker) for installation and repair work.
• Set up rigging for movement of heavy loads (transformers, large motors).
• Maintain metering and monitoring equipment (recording charts, meters, megohms, scopes).
• Train, instruct, and direct apprentices and helpers as assigned by the Plant Manager.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance to ensure continuity of electrical service.
• Prepare reports (motor, maintenance, equipment readings, safety inspections, battery reports) as required.
• May certify in special plant equipment to meet state and federal requirements.
• Perform duties with appropriate complexity as determined by management; accommodate essential functions as needed. What We're Looking For
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Must pass IBEW Local 57 examination (Electrical Theory, industrial maintenance experience, and practical testing).
• 2 years power plant experience or completion of Power Plant Fundamentals.
• Ability to work from blueprints and manuals; perform preventive maintenance and document findings.
• Ability to work safely and with or without accommodation. Nice to Have
• Experience supervising or training apprentices and helpers.
• Knowledge of environmental protection equipment and related controls. Compensation & Benefits
