About the Role Georgia-Pacific’s Containerboard Division is seeking a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) to join our Big Island, VA paper mill. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy machinery used in paper production to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
What You'll Do
- Install, assemble, align, and adjust heavy machinery and equipment used in paper production.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems including conveyors, pulpers, refiners, winders, and other paper mill machinery.
- Diagnose machinery malfunctions and perform repairs or replace components such as bearings, gears, shafts, and belts.
- Use precision tools for accurate equipment setup and alignment.
- Fabricate, repair, or modify parts using welding, grinding, and cutting techniques.
