Job title: Journeyman Lineman
About the Role Join Entergy as a Journeyman Lineman in Little Rock, AR. This role involves installation and removal of electric meters, services, and related equipment on customers' premises, connecting and disconnecting services at the pole, and locating and repairing faults on distribution systems. The position is onsite with a rotating shift and requires a flexible schedule to support our around-the-clock business needs.
What You'll Do
- Install and remove electric meters, services, and related equipment on customers' premises; connect and disconnect services at the pole.
- Locate and repair faults in all types of transmission and distribution systems; respond to electric trouble calls at customers' premises.
- Trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits; test, switch, and inspect automatic voltage regulating devices and relays; inspect substation and distribution equipment.
- Conduct routine insulation tests on potheads, transformers, cables, bushings, and related equipment; operate recloser/ regulator controls.
- Maintain safety by following company rules; operate firefighting equipment and render first aid as needed; supply personal tools.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints; understand the layout and characteristics of the distribution system in the assigned area.
- Be willing and able to study, maintain and report performance of new equipment; supervise when authorized; travel up to 25% as needed.
What We're Looking For
- At least one year of experience as a Journeyman Lineman or equivalent related work; qualified for journeyman status.
- Thorough knowledge of electric circuits, equipment, and the National Electrical Code; familiarity with state/local regulations governing disconnects.
- Valid Class A CDL and ability to obtain/maintain it; knowledge of city streets, rural road networks, and traffic laws.
- Willingness to read wiring diagrams/blueprints; ability to trace, locate, and analyze difficult trouble cases; strong safety awareness and willingness to attend safety meetings.
- Ability to work onsite, flexible schedule including days/evenings/weekends; good communication and supervisory capabilities when needed.
