Job title: Journeyman Electrician
About the Role The Journeyman Electrician at UIW is responsible for providing journeyman level electrical installation, maintenance, and repair across 120 to 480 volts. Part of the Facilities Management Department, the role supports installation, troubleshooting, and operation of electrical systems and reports to the Master Electrician Supervisor.
What You'll Do
- Respond to service calls and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Install, maintain, repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform repairs following detailed procedures.
- Run/pull wire, install conduit, and support other trades (HVAC, Plumbing, etc.).
- Inspect and test electrical systems to identify hazards and deficiencies; test continuity with meters and other instruments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to safety procedures.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and detailed inspections of electrical systems.
- Install control and distribution apparatus from 120V up to 480V.
- Support the "Light the Way" annual event.
- Maintain maintenance records, logs, and work orders; stay current with the National Electrical Code.
- Coordinate with other trades and inform appropriate personnel of issues; lead electrician in the absence of the Master Electrician.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
