Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Job Cost Accountant for an established construction and general contracting firm in Gilbert, AZ! This is a fully onsite, temporary opportunity anticipated to last 60–90 days, with an immediate start available.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Job Cost Accountant to support the financial operations of a busy construction company. This professional will play a key role in tracking project expenses, monitoring budgets, analyzing cost variances, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across construction projects. The ideal candidate brings hands-on construction accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to quickly step in and make an immediate impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage job costing activities, including tracking labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and other project-related costs.

• Monitor project budgets, analyze cost variances, and identify potential financial discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate project accounting records and support timely financial reporting.

• Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, AIA billing, and project invoicing as needed.

• Reconcile project expenses, review financial transactions, and ensure accurate allocation of costs across construction projects.

• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to provide financial insights and support effective project cost management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Hands-on construction or project accounting experience within a general contractor or similar construction environment.

• Strong understanding of job costing, project expense tracking, budget monitoring, and cost variance analysis.

• Experience with full-cycle project accounting, AIA billing, and WIP reporting is highly preferred.

• Proficiency with Sage 300 is strongly preferred, along with advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

• This temporary opportunity offers $43–$51 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The assignment is anticipated to last 60–90 days, with a full-time, onsite schedule in Gilbert, AZ.
