About the Role The Italian Translator / Linguist (Contract) supports Wikimedia Foundation by translating content and ensuring linguistic quality for Wikimedia projects, helping make knowledge accessible to Italian-speaking communities.
What You'll Do
- Translate and locally adapt Wikimedia content into Italian with accuracy and consistency
- Review and edit translations to align with established terminology and style guides
- Collaborate with localization teams and subject-matter experts to maintain high-quality multilingual content
- Manage translation workflows and meet project deadlines
What We're Looking For
- Native or proficient Italian with strong written and spoken English
- Experience translating content, preferably in open knowledge or nonprofit contexts
- Familiarity with translation tools, glossaries, and style guides
- Ability to work on a contract basis and communicate effectively in a remote team
Nice to Have
- Experience with Wikimedia projects, Wikipedia, or other open knowledge platforms
- Knowledge of localization best practices and terminology management
