IT Officer
Location: Sangotedo, Lagos
Job Summary
The IT Officer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organisation's computer systems, networks, software, communication technology, and other IT infrastructure to ensure smooth and reliable daily operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
IT Systems Management:
- Manage and maintain computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT equipment.
- Install, configure, and update operating systems and software.
- Ensure all IT systems are functioning properly.
Network Administration:
- Manage and maintain the organisation's Wi-Fi, LAN, internet, and network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and internet-related problems.
- Monitor network performance and availability.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical assistance to staff and management.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
- Respond promptly to IT-related complaints and service requests.
Hotel Technology Support:
- Provide IT support for the PMS, POS, CCTV, access control, telephone/intercom, Wi-Fi, smart TVs, and other hotel technology systems.
- Ensure front office, accounts, restaurant, reservations, and other departments have reliable access to required systems.
CCTV & Security Systems:
- Monitor and maintain CCTV systems and recording equipment.
- Ensure cameras are properly positioned and operational.
- Troubleshoot CCTV and surveillance system issues.
Data Protection & Cybersecurity:
- Protect company systems and data from unauthorised access.
- Maintain strong passwords, user access controls, antivirus protection, and security updates.
- Report suspected security breaches or unusual system activity.
Backup & Data Recovery:
- Perform regular backups of important company data.
- Maintain proper backup records and assist with data recovery when necessary.
System Maintenance:
- Carry out routine maintenance and updates on computers, servers, network devices, and other IT equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacement or upgrades where necessary.
User Account Management:
- Create and manage staff email accounts, system accounts, and access permissions.
- Ensure staff have appropriate access based on their responsibilities.
- Disable access for resigned or terminated employees promptly.
IT Inventory & Documentation:
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of computers, software, network equipment, and other IT assets.
- Keep records of repairs, maintenance, installations, and equipment allocation.
Vendor & Service Provider Coordination:
- Liaise with internet service providers, software vendors, CCTV technicians, and other technology suppliers.
- Follow up on technical issues requiring external support.
IT Training:
- Train and guide staff on the proper use of company software, computers, hotel systems, and other technology.
- Promote good cybersecurity and data-handling practices among employees.
IT Procurement:
- Assess IT equipment and software requirements.
- Make recommendations for procurement, upgrades, and replacement of obsolete equipment.
Reporting:
- Prepare regular IT maintenance and incident reports.
- Report major system failures, security concerns, equipment damage, and outstanding IT issues to management.
