Iron Worker Journeyman

Iron Worker Journeyman responsible for raising, aligning, and welding structural steel as part of a field crew in Enid, OK. This role requires reading drawings, rigging, operating hoisting equipment, and ensuring safe, accurate placement of girders and other components to form the structural framework.

What You'll Do

• Set up hoisting equipment and raise/place structural steel members with basic rigging knowledge for raising and placing structures.
• Fasten steel members to hoist cable using chain, cable, or rope; signal hoisting operator to lift and place members.
• Guide members into position using tag lines; assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
• Align bolt holes in steel members; verify vertical and horizontal alignment with plumb bob and level; hold temporary positions until permanently bolted or welded.
• Cut and weld steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene equipment.
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies; perform routine maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Follow safety and project rules; wear required personal protective equipment.

What We're Looking For

• Typically 3+ years of documented field experience with the ability to read and interpret instructions, document, plan and perform work activities independently.
• Experience raising, placing and uniting girders, columns and other structural steel members; basic rigging knowledge.
• Proficiency with oxyacetylene cutting/welding; ability to read drawings.
• Physically capable of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lb; able to work in a physically demanding environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent with related field experience; knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures; ability to work under supervision.
