IP Network Engineer
Layer3 is seeking a skilled IP Network Engineer to join their team in Lagos. This role is pivotal in planning, implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure and services.
You will be responsible for network administration, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing advanced solutions such as IP/MPLS and SDN for enterprise customers. The position requires a strong understanding of various network technologies and protocols.
Key responsibilities include providing engineering support for switching and routing technologies, analyzing network failures, configuring LAN/WAN/WLAN links, and participating in network design and implementation projects. You will also supervise IP/MPLS service implementation and perform corrective maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, 3-5 years of experience in IP network management, and a CCNA or JNCIA certification. Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, and Bluecoat technologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering-level support for switching and routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, VPN, DMVPN, SDN, QoS, VoIP, cloud, automation, and related technologies.
- Analyze and troubleshoot network failures, bottlenecks, and system logs.
- Configure switching technologies including VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel, STP/RSTP, IPSec, GRE tunneling, and port security.
- Configure LAN/WAN/WLAN links using VSI/L2VC for MPLS L2VPN.
- Assist in the design, configuration, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Participate in internal and external network design and implementation projects.
- Supervise IP/MPLS service implementation, testing, and handover.
- Perform corrective maintenance on IP/MPLS networks.
- Develop automation tools and systems to support network operations.
- Plan, configure, and implement network infrastructure.
- Design routing topologies for Core, Access, Metro, and Edge networks.
- Support digital transformation initiatives involving Cloud, Security, Big Data, IoT, SDN, SDS, and SD-WAN.
- Respond to RFQs and prepare technical proposals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting and managing IP networks.
- CCNA or JNCIA certification.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, and Bluecoat technologies.
- Strong understanding of network technologies and protocols.
- Knowledge of operating systems and structured network cabling.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
