Investment Officer

About the Role The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) seeks an Investment Officer within PSC2 to originate, structure, and execute infrastructure-related public-sector transactions in Region 2, supporting sovereign projects and helping build a strong investment pipeline across AIIB-covered sectors. What You'll Do

• Lead and co-lead the origination, structuring, and execution of investment projects in an efficient and timely manner.
• Organize and supervise project due diligence to ensure key economic, financial, technical, legal, environmental, and social issues and risks are considered and mitigants incorporated in the financing structure and legal documentation during project preparation.
• Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data in relation to potential projects, and lead/co-lead analyses of financial statements and updating financial models and projections as needed.
• Carry out institutional assessments on executing agencies, including regulatory framework and implementation capacity assessments of project counterparts.
• Oversee the implementation of AIIB's investment operations with the objective of enhancing quality and accelerating project implementation.
• Monitor compliance with project agreements and AIIB procedures related to disbursement; monitor progress of project implementation and financial performance of clients; assess evolving risk factors and covenant compliance.
• Lead project teams on the preparation of timely and comprehensive monitoring reports; propose corrective actions and agree with clients on necessary remedies.
• Lead interactions with clients, cofinancing partners, and other stakeholders to develop long-term relationships.
• Advise clients on the preparation of technical and feasibility studies and the technical design of projects, leading to investment prioritization and cost-effective solutions.
• Conduct project risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Lead business development activities in public-sector infrastructure projects by engaging with governments, state-owned enterprises, government-related entities, and other institutions, gathering information and building relationships.
• Facilitate identification and sourcing of public-private partnership advisory mandates in coordination with other departments.
• Prepare, supervise, and implement support missions and site visits to ensure development objectives are met and to address implementation issues.
• Manage internal stakeholders and the AIIB project approval process, coordinating with relevant Bank units.
• Support and mentor junior team members; support management in achieving targets; perform ad hoc tasks. What We're Looking For
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in infrastructure finance at a commercial bank, investment bank, international financial institution, or top-tier consultancy.
• Experience working on projects in Region 2 markets would be an advantage.
• Master's degree or equivalent in business, finance, economics, or related fields.
• Technical expertise in the transport, energy, water, or urban sector is not necessary but could be an asset.
• Skilled in financial analysis and the modeling and structuring of corporate finance and other types of infrastructure financing.
• Knowledge of business models in infrastructure sectors.
• Strong organizational and project management skills to conduct the day-to-day management of a large and complex project portfolio.
• Effective communication skills to engage with a range of stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, international organizations, and other development partners. Nice to Have
