About the Role Greenhill Canada is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate (1st or 2nd year) to join its generalist M&A advisory team in Toronto. The Associate will be a core member of the Greenhill Canada team, supporting buy-side, sell-side and strategic advisory mandates for clients across industries.
What You'll Do
- Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
- Develop detailed valuation models for private and public companies, as well as merged entities
- Develop and prepare highly technical client presentations and materials with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness
- Assist in the evaluation, due diligence and execution of M&A transactions (including the preparation of process marketing materials – e.g. Confidential Information Memoranda)
- Assist in the development and cultivation of client relationships and support senior bankers with idea generation
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of investment banking, corporate finance and/or M&A experience with a top-tier investment bank OR a Master of Business Administration degree concentrating in Finance with relevant pre-MBA and/or post-MBA investment banking experience
- Experience in the execution of M&A transactions and process management is preferred
- Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Maturity and good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
- Creativity and intellectual curiosity
- Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment
Nice to Have
- MBA with a finance concentration and relevant pre-/post-MBA investment banking experience
Compensation & Benefits
- The base salary for an Associate position ranges from C$175,000 to C$210,000 per year, plus employee benefits package and a discretionary annual bonus, resulting in a competitive all-in compensation range for top performers
