About the Role The New Hampshire Public Defender is hiring Investigators to support staff attorneys and clients in the indigent criminal defense program. Investigators help build client-centered representation by gathering information, interviewing witnesses, and supporting sentencing hearings across New Hampshire.
What You'll Do
- Interview potential witnesses
- Subpoena witnesses and obtain important documents
- Write investigative reports and collect relevant information
- Assist with case management and information gathering for sentencing hearings
- Work closely with staff attorneys, clients, witnesses, and families as part of a collaborative team
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s level degree
- Excellent interpersonal skills and solid writing ability
- Ability to communicate effectively, document information accurately, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to deal compassionately with a wide variety of individuals, work independently, and manage time effectively
- Dedication to representing indigent clients and contributing to a diverse, inclusive workplace
