About the Role The Centre for Independent Living Toronto (CILT) is hiring an Interview Coordinator to support the Direct Funding (DF) Program. This role leads eligibility and suitability assessments for DF applicants and participants across Ontario, bringing expertise in attendant services, disability-related issues, and public funding policy.

The Interview Coordinator will work within the DF team to ensure compliance with program guidelines and accurate, timely decision-making. What You'll Do

  • Lead eligibility interviews and act as the lead on DF eligibility interviews and budget increase request meetings, handling the majority of questions and ensuring interview requirements are met; manage interview scheduling and documentation.
  • Stay current with DF funding guidelines and relevant legislation (Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act) and monitor sector changes affecting wages, environment, and service provision.
  • Conduct interviews remotely or in-person (community or applicant's home); generate formal written correspondence to applicants/self-managers regarding eligibility, DF agreements, and policies.
  • Act as a DF Team member: compile statistics on new applications, waitlists, and status updates; collaborate on intake policies, procedures, and training; prepare applicants for interviews; present material; report significant information to DF Program Managers/Executive Director.
  • Prepare applicants with complex needs for eligibility interviews: assist with complex applications (large budgets, recently acquired disabilities); review applications for completeness and eligibility; update the DF database; travel to accompany applicants as needed. What We're Looking For
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience; 4-5 years of relevant interviewing experience in social services
  • Strong knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy, attendant services, disability issues
  • Understanding of publicly funded health program policies; knowledge of DF eligibility/suitability criteria
  • Ability to lead structured eligibility interviews; strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to interpret/apply policy; sound judgment, tact, and conflict management
  • Strong problem-solving abilities; negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Experience interpreting and applying policy; capacity to conduct interviews remotely and in-person, with travel to community/home settings
  • Experience supporting applicants with complex needs (e.g., large budgets, newly acquired disabilities)
  • Track record of completing projects; ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); ability to generate clear correspondence
  • Knowledge of employer responsibilities (recruiting, payroll, employment standards, budgeting)
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset Nice to Have
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: Hiring range $60,000–$67,000 per year
  • Benefits: group benefits after 3 months
  • Work arrangement: Hybrid (office ~1x per week or semi-monthly and from home)
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Travel: Some travel to prepare applicants for in-person interviews (homes, rehab centers, hospitals)
  • Security: Acceptable vulnerable sector check required
