About this role

About the Role NH PBS offers paid internships for students pursuing careers in journalism, digital, broadcasting, communications, nonprofit fundraising and television technology. Interns receive hands-on training across multiple departments at NHPBS including Production, Local Content Development, Web/Digital, Communications, Development, Education, and Information Technology. Minimum 10 hours per week; flexible hours 9am-5pm, Monday–Friday with occasional weekends. What You'll Do

  • Support interns across departments with day-to-day tasks; tasks may include story research, scheduling interviews, transcribing field recordings, running camera, set building, lighting, floor directing, graphic production, assistant directing, teleprompting, and other duties as assigned in Production.
  • Web/Digital: assist in development of web content for nhpbs.org, including graphics editing, web page editing, and data entry.
  • Broadcast Operations: help maintain daily technical and scheduling workflows; review and proof schedules, verify show times and metadata, prepare media files for broadcast delivery, update playlists, monitor on-air broadcasts and troubleshoot issues.
  • Granite State Challenge: January production coverage at the Durham studio; cover games, note highlights, prepare stories for local newspapers, assist with game prep.
  • The State We're In: support weekly public affairs production with research, content development, updates to the series webpage, field work, and weekly story meetings.
  • Communications/Marketing: write copy for email marketing and social media, assist with events promotion, and contribute to the communications team; basic graphic design skills encouraged.
  • Educational Outreach: assist with on-air, online and field work for Granite State Challenge, Kids Write Contest, STEM from the START initiatives, fairs and festivals.
  • Information Technology: learn to write program specs, design database layouts, prepare data input/reporting screens, integrate menu systems, and plan data migration from old to new systems.
  • Development: assist the Development team with donor relations, records maintenance, volunteer coordination, data entry, and event support (Holiday and Spring Auction and other activities). What We're Looking For
  • Students pursuing degrees in journalism, digital media, broadcasting, communications, nonprofit fundraising, IT, education, or related fields.
  • Highly motivated individuals who are detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team; good organizational skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Curious, eager to learn, and interested in supporting public television in New Hampshire and beyond. Nice to Have
  • Journalism majors or multimedia producers; interest in graphic design techniques; willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with web content management, basic design tools, or public media campaigns is a plus. Compensation & Benefits
  • Paid internships with a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Flexible scheduling within Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm with occasional weekends.
  • Hands-on, department-wide exposure to public television operations and programming.
