About the Role The Hong Kong Office runs two programs: a four-week internship for penultimate-year law students and a Trainee Solicitor programme. Interns gain hands-on experience by working with paralegals, associates, and partners on tasks such as legal research, drafting simple documents, attending court, and learning how deals are closed. Trainees receive a structured rotational training in the first year, followed by a flexible final year and ongoing supervision and development opportunities. What You'll Do
- For Interns: conduct legal research, draft simple documents, attend court, and participate in assignments across practice areas; work with paralegals, associates, and partners; gain exposure to deal mechanics; most join in the summer (June-July).
- For Trainee Solicitors: participate in a two-year training contract with 12 months rotational and 12 months flexible final year; assigned to a supervising partner; regular formal reviews; internal training seminars; external training; support for further study; enrollment in the Hong Kong Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) before training. What We're Looking For
- Strong academic record (at least upper second class law degree or equivalent)
- Commercially minded, confident, and keen to take on responsibility
- Able to think laterally, adapt to different cultural settings, and cope well under pressure
- Great interpersonal skills and a hands-on can-do attitude Nice to Have
- Bilingual or trilingual, particularly those speaking Cantonese or Putonghua, with ability to read and write simplified or traditional Chinese will be highly regarded
