About the Role

The Intern will support the IOC/UNESCO Sector’s mission by contributing to data collection, analysis, documentation, and coordination across programme and project activities related to ocean science and the Ocean Decade. The internship offers hands-on experience across research, partnerships, operations, and communications, with learning objectives defined in the assignment.

What You'll Do

  • Programme and Project Support: Collect, organize and analyze data; contribute to documents and concept notes; assist in developing new interventions or projects.
  • Research and Knowledge Management: Undertake specific research and reviews; contribute to knowledge products and outreach materials; participate in meetings and seminars.
  • Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement: Analyze background data for partnerships and resource mobilisation; support engagement of stakeholders; facilitate Ocean Decade networks.
  • Operations Support: Provide admin and logistics support for meetings and events; assist budgets and project documentation; help manage Ocean Decade data and endorsements.
  • Communications Support: Draft, prepare and disseminate communications assets.

What We're Looking For

  • Age: At least 20 years old to apply.
  • Academic qualifications: Currently enrolled and in the 3rd year or final year of Bachelor’s degree; OR enrolled in a second degree (Master’s/PhD) or equivalent; OR must have completed a degree no more than 12 months before the internship agreement date.
  • Languages: Excellent command of English or French (written and spoken). Working knowledge of the other language is an asset and may be required for certain assignments at the Headquarters.
