Your Tasks
The propulsion department from OHB is looking for an intern to enhance its contamination and contamination transport modelling tool called openContam. The objective of the internship is to further develop, test, and validate the software to support spacecraft contamination analyses during mission design and operations. The intern will be fully integrated into the Analysis team of the propulsion department.
openContam is a modular simulation framework used to predict molecular, contamination effects on spacecraft surfaces and sensitive payloads. The internship will focus on improving the software capabilities, implementing new functionalities, and validating the tool against analytical solutions, experimental data, and reference cases.
- Get introduced to openContam and its modelling capabilities
- Develop and implement additional physical models and software features
- Create validation test cases and benchmarking campaigns
- Compare simulation results with analytical models and available test data
- Improve the software architecture, user experience, and documentation
- Support the integration of new contamination analysis workflows
- Contribute to verification and validation reports
Your Qualifications
- Previous experience or studies in aerospace engineering, physics, or numerical simulation
- Programming experience in Python and/or C++ is mandatory
- Knowledge of ray tracing methods, GUI programming and multithreading is a plus
- Ability to work independently and adapt to different technical topics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very good communication skills
- High proficiency in English as working language, both spoken and written
- Duration: minimum 5 months
