Intern - Judicial Internship (Passaic Vicinage)
Paid internship opportunities with the New Jersey Judiciary in the Passaic Vicinage. Interns perform clerical, administrative, supportive tasks and customer service duties related to proceedings before the Court; gain broad insight into the court system while contributing to public service. What You'll Do
- Prepare filings for judge and staff review, including document retrieval and providing documents to chambers
- Assist with answering phones, returning phone calls, receiving and distributing voicemails
- Research caseloads and perform calendar management
- Moderate virtual hearings
- Assist with client contact for newly assigned cases and reminders
- Perform special projects; conduct research and analysis; perform computer-related work
- Collect and enter data; provide customer service; draft correspondences and memos
- Attend community planning meetings; assist staff as directed
- Follow up with treatment providers and defendants
What We're Looking For
- Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree
- Unofficial college transcript must be included with the application
- Ability to perform physical tasks as described (climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, reaching; frequently lift 30-50 pounds; occasionally up to 75 pounds)
- Driver's license valid in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary for essential duties
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the US (US citizenship not required)
- Passaic Vicinage internship opportunities across divisions (Civil, Criminal, Criminal Pre-Trial Services, Family, Ombudsman, Operations); specify divisions and available semesters in cover letter
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $20.00; maximum 35 hours per week; not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year
- Interns must work a minimum of 10 hours per week
- This is a paid internship with opportunities for growth and development
