Intern - Digital Bureau Solution (DBS)

About the Role

The DBS Internship offers hands-on exposure to UNESCO's ICT operations and digital strategy. Interns will support the Digital Bureau Solution in various projects across operations, network, server and cloud, and cybersecurity domains, under supervision of DBS management.

What You'll Do

• Monitor network performance and diagnose connectivity issues using network monitoring tools; gain hands-on experience with network device configuration, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Gain familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud by setting up and configuring cloud resources and assisting in planning migrations of on-premises applications.
• Troubleshoot network problems, such as slow connections or outages; update and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and inventories.
• Provide basic user support (password resets, account creation) and learn to use helpdesk ticketing systems.
• AI/Generative AI: support deployment, configuration and testing of AI/GAI models developed by UNESCO.
• Cybersecurity: assist with awareness workshops, phishing simulations coordination, security policy reviews, and vulnerability scanning discussions.
• Development, Architecture, Engineering: assist in designing and coding web-based or cloud-based applications using Salesforce, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a backend framework like Node.js or Django; collaborate on UI/UX improvements and reporting using Microsoft or Salesforce technologies.
• Data preparation and analytics: data cleaning, transformation, and visualization; create interactive dashboards (Power BI) to present insights.
• Debugging, testing, and quality assurance; document application features, code, and development processes for knowledge sharing.

What We're Looking For

• Age: at least 20 years old;
• Academic qualifications: currently enrolled and in the 3rd year or final year of a Bachelor's degree; OR enrolled in a second degree (Master’s or PhD); OR recently completed a Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD within 12 months; vocational candidates in related fields who are in the last year or recently graduated.
• Languages: excellent written and spoken English or French; working knowledge of the other language is an asset.
• Computer skills: excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
• Teamwork and communication: able to work well in a team and in an international environment.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of project management and UNESCO actions;
• Strong writing, teamwork, and intercultural communication skills;
• Experience with Salesforce, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, or Django;
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud);
• Experience with Power BI for data visualization;
• Awareness of cybersecurity best practices and risk management.
