Job title: Interim Executive Director of Supply Chain

A growing healthcare organization is seeking an Interim Executive Director of Supply Chain to build an enterprise supply chain function and support the development of a new hospital. This is a hands-on leadership assignment for someone who can set the strategy, establish the infrastructure, and keep day-to-day operations moving in an evolving environment.

Assignment length: Initial six-month engagement, with the potential to extend for up to two years

Location: Austin, TX area

Schedule: Onsite four days per week, with one remote day

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an enterprise supply chain strategy to support current clinical operations and the new hospital build.
• Establish processes and governance across procurement, contracting, ordering, inventory management, and logistics.
• Build and lead the supply chain team, including defining roles, hiring, and developing staff.
• Support supply chain planning and operational readiness for the new hospital, including capital purchasing, facility design discussions, and future workflows.
• Lead improvements while maintaining reliable day-to-day supply chain operations.
• Support the implementation of Workday supply chain capabilities.
• Identify practical opportunities to use automation, AI, robotics, RFID, and analytics to improve visibility and performance.
• Partner with clinical, finance, technology, and operational leaders as plans and priorities evolve.

Qualifications

• Hospital supply chain leadership experience is required.
• Experience building, scaling, or substantially transforming supply chain operations in a complex healthcare organization.
• Broad knowledge of healthcare procurement, contracting, inventory management, and logistics.
• Ability to lead executive-level planning and work hands-on to implement it.
• Experience building teams and leading through change.
• Strong understanding of supply chain systems and an open mind toward emerging technology, including AI.
• Sound judgment and comfort working where processes and requirements are still being defined.
• Experience with a new hospital build, hospital expansion, or capital purchasing is a plus.
