Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller-level consultant to provide immediate leadership and support during a transition within the accounting organization. This is a hands-on role that will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while managing a team responsible for transactional accounting and month-end close activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, month-end close. Manage and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, including senior accountants and AP/AR staff. Serve as the primary point of contact for accounting team questions, issue resolution, and escalations. Support month-end close analysis and review of financial results. Review and approve payroll processing. Assist with technical accounting matters, including lease accounting (ASC 842) and other complex journal entries as needed. Support audit requests, audit schedules, and related documentation. Ensure an efficient close process within a fast-paced reporting environment.

Qualifications

• Public company accounting experience required. Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller. Experience managing accounting staff and overseeing month-end close processes. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and lease accounting (ASC 842). ERP experience required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred. Candidates with Oracle, SAP, or other large ERP platform experience will also be considered. Ability to quickly assess processes, provide leadership, and contribute in a hands-on capacity.

Engagement Details:

• Title: Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

• Duration: Approximately 4-5 months, with potential for adjustment based on hiring timelines

• Start Date: ASAP

• Work Arrangement: Hybrid, onsite three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday)

• Reporting To: Controller
