About this role

The Role

We are looking for a Media Supervisor who demonstrates strong foundational media expertise, and is able to produce & execute strategic and creative media plans that lean into data and culturally-driven insights for our clients.

At Giant Spoon, we encourage our clients to prioritize impact over impressions, and to reimagine what “media” means in a commoditized media landscape. We believe in expanding how people experience brands and that boring is bad for business. As part of that, true partnerships (and not just transactions) are both effective for brands and more interesting for consumers than the one-way legacy approach.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the details. Qualified candidates take pleasure in getting to “do it all” at Giant Spoon, meaning you will gain experience with planning and buying across all channels - not just be relegated to one portion of the process, limiting potential for growth and holistic experience. Individuals that enjoy working on projects that blur the lines between media, strategy, intelligence, and creativity should apply.

This role works out of our NY office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in & oversee all stages of the media planning process. Build strategies, analyze media plans to produce client recommendations that stick, execute, and meaningfully report on success

  • Client-facing comms including status calls, presentations, and written comms. Ability to effectively handle 1:1 client conversations when needed

  • Compile Research with help of syndicated tools (marketplace insights, audience media consumption habits, competitive spend)

  • Managing billing and reconciliation of budget and invoices, directly and by overseeing more junior team members

  • Oversee ongoing campaign monitoring, recommend daily/weekly/monthly optimizations and oversee day-to-day campaign operations

  • Pull together & evaluate channel & partner capabilities

  • Coordinate outreach and review and evaluate partner proposals

  • Coordinate RFP development based on client briefs

  • Coordinate tactical planning, negotiations, and execution tied to media brief

  • Analyze reporting and draw insights based on the context of what we set out to buy & achieve, collaborating with the analytics team when necessary

  • Contribute to creative media brainstorms

  • Manage the day-to-day of Media Planners & Assistant Media Planners. This includes project management, training/mentoring, and QA of work

  • Stay up to date on media trends and evolving capabilities

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an integrated media planning & buying (digital & traditional) role client-side or agency

  • Experience planning & buying at least 4 of the following channels: CTV, social media, podcast, creator content, OOH, YouTube, Linear TV, radio/streaming music, display/native

  • Ability to take a brief and develop a comprehensive, omni channel media plan (depending on the brief, plan will balance efficiencies, measurability, impactfulness, upper/mid/lower funnel KPIs, etc)

  • Experience with media planning and buying tools (Prisma/Media Ocean)

  • Budget, billing, reconciliation experience a must

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Has managed more junior team members in the past

  • Experience with trafficking, campaign set up & QA (digital tagging/trafficking)

  • Inherent desire to learn more about the trends shaping consumer behavior

  • Strong organization and project management skills, effectively hitting deadlines and finding ways to streamline process

  • Digitally connected, passionate about technology and innovation with an insatiable curiosity for how it applies to our industry

Nice-to-Have

  • Direct experience with end-to-end Linear TV campaign activation, including trafficking, setup, quality assurance, and execution

  • Deep hands on key experience with digital tagging
