We are seeking a talented individual to join our Surplus Lines Insurance team, part of our risk business at Marsh. This role will be based in Austin, TX. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
-
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, navigating regulations, and partnering across teams to keep transactions moving smoothly. If you have a background in tax, accounting, compliance, regulatory operations, or insurance, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and client service matter, we’d love to hear from you.

As part of a highly collaborative team, you’ll help make sure surplus lines placements are completed accurately, compliantly, and on time — while serving as a trusted resource for brokers, clients, and internal partners. You’ll play a visible role in resolving escalations, supporting regulatory requirements, and helping the business move with confidence through complex transactions. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build expertise at the intersection of compliance, tax, and insurance while making a meaningful impact every day.
We will count on you to:
-
Partner with client‑facing and market‑facing teams to review escalations and confirm surplus lines placements are compliant before binding
-
Ensure accurate invoicing and timely submission of documentation to the surplus lines processing unit
-
Guide colleagues on placement workflows to support on‑time, accurate filings
-
Build and maintain relationships with regulators across assigned jurisdictions
-
Serve as the primary contact for escalations, audits, and regulatory inquiries
-
Stay current on state statutes, regulatory changes, and surplus lines requirements
-
Communicate surplus lines issues to clients and insurers in clear, practical terms
-
Advise on tax issues and remediation efforts within assigned territories
-
Mitigate fines and penalties by ensuring all placements meet coverage and filing requirements
-
Partner with Compliance on investigations, client-related issues, and corporate projects
-
Identify and raise opportunities to streamline surplus lines processes
What you need to have:
-
Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience
-
3+ years of relevant experience
-
Active P&C broker license—or ability to obtain within 90 days
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems
-
Strong client focus, professionalism, and relationship‑building skills
-
What makes you stand out?
-
Experience in surplus lines, insurance operations, tax, compliance, accounting, or regulatory work
