Job Description

Responsible for the safe and effective installation, repair, removal and maintenance of thermal insulation and protective cladding on piping, vessels, equipment, ductwork and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace insulation on process piping, vessels, tanks, equipment, ducts and other structures.

• Install and maintain removable insulation blankets and covers where required.

• Install metal and non-metallic cladding/jacketing over insulated equipment and pipework.

• Measure, cut, shape and fit insulation materials to specified dimensions.

• Install insulation supports, bands, pins, fasteners and other accessories.

• Install weatherproofing and protective systems to prevent water ingress and deterioration.

• Carry out insulation and cladding work in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and manufacturer requirements.

• Remove existing insulation/cladding safely during maintenance, inspection and shutdown activities.

• Reinstate insulation and cladding after inspection, repair or maintenance activities.

• Ensure proper fitting around valves, flanges, supports, instruments and other piping components.

• Maintain required clearances around equipment and instrumentation.

• Inspect completed work for gaps, damage, poor fitting, moisture ingress and other defects.

• Use hand tools, power tools and fabrication tools safely and correctly.

• Comply with PTW, LOTO, JSA/JHA, risk assessments and site HSE requirements.

• Participate in toolbox talks and pre-job meetings.

• Maintain good housekeeping and control insulation/cladding materials at the worksite.

• Report defective materials, damaged insulation, unsafe conditions and installation problems.

• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, scaffolding, painting, electrical, instrumentation and QA/QC personnel where work interfaces exist.

• Complete work records, material usage records and relevant inspection documentation.

• Minimum/Preferred Requirements

• Technical/trade qualification in insulation, cladding, mechanical fabrication or a related discipline.

• Demonstrable experience in industrial insulation/cladding installation and maintenance.

• Experience with process piping, vessels, tanks and industrial equipment.

• Ability to read basic drawings, sketches and work instructions.

• Knowledge of insulation materials, cladding systems, supports and fastening methods.

• Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery or other process facilities is preferred.

• Relevant HSE/site certifications as applicable.

• Ability to work at height and in industrial/offshore environments where required.
