About the Role Instrumentation Engineer III at Tata Consulting Engineers USA is responsible for applying engineering principles to instrumentation projects in energy and chemicals sectors. The role includes preparing specifications, performing design calculations, visiting vendor facilities and client sites, and supervising design personnel to ensure safe, cost-effective solutions.
What You'll Do
- Prepare basic to advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
- Prepare technical specifications for review and approval.
- Assist in the development of instrumentation design calculations and packages.
- Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements.
- Visit jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions. Prepare bid tabulations on simple purchases.
- Review vendor drawings.
- Develop a focus on least cost, safe design.
- Supervise design personnel.
- Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
- Supports field assignments as required.
- Travel to client jobsites, typically heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities; may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and other hazards.
What We're Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience related to instrumentation and control systems.
- BS in Engineering (ABET accredited) required; EIT preferred; PE preferred.
- Ability to visit vendor facilities and client jobsites.
- Demonstrated safety awareness and ability to work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Nice to Have
- Engineer in Training (EIT) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
