About this role

About the Role Join Linde as an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician at the Chesterton, IN site. You will maintain and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation (transmitters, PLCs, meters, analyzers, valves) and electrical systems (motors, UPS, breakers, transformers, switchgear), develop preventive and corrective maintenance, and support calibration, asset management software, and regulatory validation. Travel to satellite plants (~20%) and exposure to varied weather and elevated equipment, with occasional overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments including transmitters, PLC systems, meters, analyzers, and automatic valves.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment under 600 volts, such as motors, uninterruptible power supplies, breakers, transformers, and switchgear control systems.
  • Develop, plan, schedule, coordinate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for major equipment failures and resolve chronic instrumentation asset issues.
  • Read and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and schematic wiring diagrams following standard operating procedures, quality assurance, and management of change policies.
  • Lead implementation and compliance of instrumentation calibration and asset management software, and support validation activities for instrumentation systems under regulatory standards.
  • Provide on-site or remote guidance to plant and contract personnel to ensure safe, effective work and drive resolution of critical issues with urgency and integrity.
  • Travel approximately 20 percent of the time to support satellite plant operations; work in varied weather conditions and access elevated equipment; be prepared for occasional overtime, weekend, night, and holiday callouts.

What We're Looking For

  • An Associate or Engineering Technology Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics with at least five (5) years of experience maintaining instrumentation systems in industrial manufacturing.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial instrumentation systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and lead or participate in team projects, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with computers and standard software packages including Microsoft Office and email.
  • Availability to travel approximately 20 percent of the time.
  • Preferably a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with knowledge of regulatory standards, process control systems, and asset management software such as Infor EAM and Procal.
