About this role

Job title: Instructor, Utility Line Technology

About the Role The Instructor for Utility Line Technology will teach Utility Line Technology courses within the Technology Department, including related courses and dual credit high school students. The role includes maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes, and delivering hybrid/online courses on campus and at alternate locations. The instructor attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills and assists in curriculum development. All LIT faculty participate in recruitment and retention as part of the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Actively engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting
  • Actively participate in retention initiatives
  • Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses
  • Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
  • Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
  • Perform other related duties, as required

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum Requirements: A certificate or higher degree in Utility Line or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required; please submit official transcripts with application. Experience in all aspects of utility line; minimum of 5 years in Utility Line field; possess a valid and clean CDL; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Preferred Requirements: Working knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System; teaching experience

  • Blackboard LMS familiarity
  • Prior teaching experience
