Job title: Instructor, Respiratory Care
About the Role The Instructor for Respiratory Care provides clinical and didactic instruction for students enrolled in the Respiratory Care program. This role includes maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses on campus and at alternate locations, and supporting curriculum development and program labs. The position participates in advisory committees, professional development, and recruitment/retention efforts as part of LIT's Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
What You'll Do Actively engage students in the learning process and uphold ethical/professional standards; adhere to TSUS and LIT policies; participate in college service (committees, advising, tutoring, recruiting); teach courses in fall and spring (may include day, evening, weekends); provide mentorship to dual credit partners; attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions; stay current on national matters and trends in education; participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum; assist in curriculum development; maintain program computer labs; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For Associate Degree in Respiratory Care Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (Texas Department of Health), current and unencumbered Four years of full-time experience in Respiratory Care Two years of full-time experience in Critical Care American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work well in a team environment Good time management skills
Nice to Have Experience teaching in higher education Knowledge of online learning platforms such as Blackboard and Banner Knowledge of LIT Respiratory Care program policies and procedures Knowledge of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) standards and curriculum
