Job title: Instructor of Welding
Lamar Institute of Technology is seeking a part-time Welding Instructor to provide instruction for Welding courses at the TSUS Polk County Center in Livingston, TX. The Welding Instructor reports to the Executive Director of Workforce and will teach on-site at the Livingston, TX Polk County Education Center with hours that vary (day, evening, and/or weekend).
What You'll Do
- Actively engage students in the learning process and provide instruction for Welding courses
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior and adhere to TSUS and LIT policies
- Participate in college service including committee work, advising and tutoring, and recruitment
- Teach classes during fall and spring semesters as required by the department; may include day, evening, weekend, and dual credit/early college opportunities
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners or mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay informed on national matters and trends in education
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Assist in curriculum development as needed and perform other related duties
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: An associate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college
- Five years of work experience in Industrial Technology
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good time management skills
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field
- Related field and/or industry certifications
