About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks an Instructor of Esthetics to provide instruction for students in the Esthetics program, including dual-enrolled high school students. The role also involves maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes and hybrid/online courses, and delivering courses on campus and at alternate locations. The instructor will help coordinate advisory committee meetings, participate in professional development, assist in curriculum development, and maintain program computer labs, while contributing to the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
What You'll Do
- Actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Participate in college service (committee work, advising/tutoring students, recruiting)
- Teach classes during fall and spring semesters (day, evening, weekend, Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Assist in curriculum development as needed
- Perform other related duties as required
What We're Looking For
- Valid Esthetician license
- 1-3 years of work experience in the cosmetology/esthetics field
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good time management skills
Nice to Have
- Related field and/or industry certifications
- An Associate degree in Cosmetology/Esthetics or related field from a regionally accredited college
