Job title: Instructor of Development English
About the Role The Instructor of Development English will provide instruction for students enrolled in Development English courses at Lamar Institute of Technology. This part-time, exempt role reports to the Department Chair of General Education and may require day, evening, and weekend classes; classes will be delivered at the Sam Houston State University Campus.
What You'll Do
- Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training (e.g., Blackboard Online Instructor Certification, Title IX, FERPA).
- Utilize LIT's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and SHSU Faculty Online Development Training to improve teaching skills.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to TSUS and LIT policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum: Master’s degree in English or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in English from a regionally accredited institution.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Good time management skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Doctorate degree in subject area.
- Related field and/or industry certifications.
