About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks an Instructor of Art Appreciation to provide instruction for students enrolled in Art Appreciation courses. This part-time, exempt role reports to the Department Chair of General Education. Classes will be delivered at the Sam Houston State University Campus. What You'll Do
- Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
- Complete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, FERPA, etc.
- Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and SHSU Faculty Online Development Training to continually hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Other related duties as assigned What We're Looking For
- MASTER’S degree in Humanities/Fine Arts or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Humanities/Fine Arts
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Possess good time management skills Nice to Have
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Doctorate degree in subject area
- Related field and/or industry certifications Supplemental Information / Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to remain stationary for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents and equipment; and constantly operate a computer or other office equipment.
