About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks an Instructor for Instrumentation to teach Instrumentation and related courses within the Industrial and Engineering Technology department. The role includes delivering instruction (including dual credit high school students), maintaining office hours, and teaching extended day, hybrid/online courses on campus and at alternate locations. The instructor will participate in curriculum development, advisory committees, and professional development to enhance teaching and support student success as part of the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
What You'll Do
- Teach Instrumentation courses and related topics to undergraduate and dual-credit high school students.
- Maintain office hours and teach extended day, weekend, and online/hybrid courses on campus and at alternate locations.
- Coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings; participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; assist in curriculum development; maintain program computer labs.
- Engage in recruitment and retention efforts and participate in LIT Core Curriculum assessment activities.
- Mentor dual-credit partners/mentees and collaborate with colleagues; stay current on national trends in education.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum qualifications: Associate degree in instrumentation; demonstrated recent industry experience within the last five years; proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies; strong verbal and written communication; team player with good time-management skills.
- Preferred: Experience teaching in higher education; related field and/or industry certifications.
