About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks an Instructor for Data Analytics to deliver instruction for Data Analytics courses and related topics in the Business Technologies department, including dual-credit high school students. The role includes maintaining office hours, teaching on-campus and online/hybrid courses, and assisting in curriculum development and lab maintenance, while supporting recruitment and the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
What You'll Do
- Actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Adhere to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Participate in college service, including advising, tutoring, and recruitment
- Teach classes during fall and spring semesters (including day, evening, weekend, and online/dual-credit)
- Provide mentorship to dual-credit partners and mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national trends in education
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Assist in the development of curriculum and maintain program computer labs
- Perform other related duties as required
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team and good time-management
Nice to Have
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in subject area
- Related field and/or industry certifications
