About the Role Under direction, the instructional support specialist provides specialized technical support in EMT laboratories and classrooms at Glendale Community College. The role assists students in developing competencies, oversees lab equipment and facilities, and supports instructors with EMT instructional technologies, using an established framework of procedures and rubrics to track progress.

What You'll Do

  • Perform specialized technical instructional support duties in an EMT laboratory, classroom, or similar setting, assisting students in developing competencies and proctoring laboratory examinations using established rubrics.
  • Oversee and coordinate the use of laboratory equipment and facilities; maintain facilities and equipment; set up exercises, simulations, demonstrations, and other lesson-based activities; prepare equipment and supplies; demonstrate proper and safe use; clean and store equipment after use.
  • Assist instructors and students in using specialized equipment and facilities; schedule laboratory/equipment usage; check equipment in and out.
  • Assist students and instructors in using technology, including LMS, student accounts, and internal communication platforms; set up and configure software applications; provide assistance with standard office tools.
  • Use instructional support methods/tools to reinforce instruction and guide students in applying concepts; explain assignments and demonstrate procedures.
  • Track student participation and attendance, assess competencies, and proctor exams; inform instructors of issues.
  • Monitor inventories and coordinate with faculty on equipment and supplies; research costs and availability; submit purchase requests.
  • Maintain electronic and hard-copy records of student progress in line with FERPA.
  • May perform routine hardware/software maintenance; calibrate and maintain specialized equipment; troubleshoot minor issues.
  • May assist with budgeting, data reporting, and policy/procedure improvements; coordinate related workshops.
  • May provide work direction to lower-level staff, temporary staff, and/or student workers.
