About the Role The Instructional Staff I for the Professional Truck Driving Academy provides classroom and hands-on instruction to students, under moderate supervision. This is a staff teaching position (not faculty) and is exempt. What You'll Do
- Implement practical training consisting of range and street instruction for Class A, Class B, Refresher Course and customized training following established program curriculum.
- Track student progress through online curriculum modules.
- Demonstrate exemplary technique in the operation of equipment.
- Convey industry-accepted standards regarding operational techniques of equipment.
- Work with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels; meet with supervisor daily; collaborate with colleagues in a team-teaching environment.
- Adapt to non-traditional teaching environments (range truck noise, street driving, unusual conditions).
- Work flexible hours, including possible weekend and night-time training.
- Maintain relationships with businesses, industries, and the truck driving advisory committee; follow institute policies; attend advisory committee meetings as necessary.
- Arrive to work in a timely and predictable manner; tolerate stressful conditions.
- Other duties as assigned to support the Institute. What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Class A CDL with Tank endorsement; minimum three years verifiable OTR experience.
- Ability to pass a 3-year driving record check without major moving violations.
- Knowledge of industry-standard training techniques and FMCSR regulations.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations and in varying environments. Nice to Have
