About the Role Weekend-only Inpatient Physician Assistant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute supports program-attending physicians in the medical management of hematologic (including BMT) and solid tumor oncology patients, and collaborates with inpatient teams and ambulatory services to coordinate patient care. What You'll Do
- Manage all aspects of patient care in collaboration with supervising MD and the care team.
- Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Order and interpret diagnostic test results to obtain pertinent medical information.
- Obtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including admission/discharge notes, daily progress notes, and results of examinations.
- Prescribe therapy or medications and perform procedures according to DFCI privileges.
- Work collaboratively with all care-team members and DF/BW staff; participate in quality improvement projects and patient safety initiatives.
- Practice efficiently without compromising high-level patient care.
- Coordinate care among attendings, consulting teams, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to promote excellence in patient care.
- Adhere to documentation of notes based on standard program practice.
- Participate in precepting of students after training; may begin earlier or later per Chief PA or supervising MD recommendations. Inpatient Chief PAs must approve inpatient PA preceptors; proctoring may be recommended for PAs unable to participate in the PA student preceptor program. What We're Looking For
- Expert knowledge of general medicine with preferably exposure to hematology/oncology and/or inpatient medicine.
- Ability to apply general internal medicine and oncology-specific medical considerations to day-to-day patient care.
- Professional, quality-driven; ability to work well within a cohesive group; demonstrates mature professional judgment.
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to build working relationships with clinicians, therapists, nurses, social workers, and other team members; collaborate with DF/BW staff.
- Commitment to ongoing clinical education; expert knowledge of inpatient oncology and general medicine.
- Ability to accept instruction and guidance, assume graded responsibility in complex teamwork, and adhere to procedures, policies, and documentation required for hospital standards of care.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with all members of the care team and DF/BW staff. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $126,100.00 - $204,732.50 per year.
