Inpatient Behavioral Health Psychiatrist (MD/DO)

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Psychiatrist (MD/DO) at Broadlawns Medical Center provides high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care to individuals at the main facility. Practicing within the scope of approved clinical privileges, the role delivers comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with acute and complex behavioral health needs. The position offers a flexible and dynamic practice environment with opportunities to work across multiple care settings, including the emergency department and consultation-liaison services, based on the physician’s interests. The psychiatrist collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, evidence-based treatment and continuity of care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clinical skills in the applicable specialty.
• Provide direct service to patients within inpatient and/or outpatient settings; seek consultation from other specialties when appropriate.
• Provide ongoing supervision and consultation to assigned mid-level providers, residents, and/or medical students.
• Participate in the departmental call schedule as assigned.
• Participate in medical education programs as assigned.
• Participate in meetings and committees of the Medical Staff as assigned to further the mission of the Medical Center.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives related to practice.
• Ensure medical records are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Licensed MD or DO practicing in psychiatry.
• Eligible to practice within the approved clinical privileges of Broadlawns Medical Center.
• Ability to provide direct patient care in inpatient and/or outpatient settings and to seek appropriate consults.
• Willingness to provide supervision and consultation to mid-level providers, residents, and/or medical students.
• Availability to participate in department call schedules, medical education programs, Medical Staff meetings, and related activities.
• Commitment to accuracy and timeliness in medical record documentation.
