Job title: Information Systems Engineer

About the Role As an Information Systems Engineer at Opendoor, you will lead the evolution of our IT infrastructure across SaaS platforms, cloud environments, and endpoints. You’ll build automation, strengthen access controls, and design tools that keep every employee productive and secure.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable IT infrastructure across SaaS, cloud, and endpoints.
  • Administer and optimize core platforms: Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, Jamf, Intune; ensure health and timely upgrades.
  • Manage cloud touchpoints across AWS, Azure, and GCP; ensure secure integration with IT systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain office networks with Meraki; ensure reliable connectivity and VLAN segmentation across all locations.
  • Build automation scripts in Python, Bash/Zsh, and PowerShell to eliminate manual overhead.
  • Design repeatable, version-controlled workflows; apply Infrastructure as Code where applicable.
  • Develop onboarding and offboarding automation spanning device provisioning and SaaS access lifecycles.
  • Lead IT projects end-to-end: planning, design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Manage timelines and communicate status clearly to stakeholders.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives aligning IT with business goals.
  • Partner with Security, Engineering, Finance, HR, and other units to scope and deliver projects.
  • Align IT work with compliance requirements and risk posture.
  • Serve as escalation point for junior engineers; mentor on systems, automation, and docs.
  • Participate in hiring and team-building to grow a high-performing IT engineering team.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date runbooks and documentation; ensure accessibility for the team.
  • Proactively monitor system health, logs, and metrics to prevent outages and drift.
  • Stay current with technologies (Google Workspace Admin, CISSP, CompTIA, Terraform, AWS, Azure, GCP, Meraki, Entra ID, AutoPilot, Okta, etc.).
  • 5+ years in IT engineering, including 3+ years in senior/lead roles.

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience administering SaaS platforms: Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, Jamf, Intune.
  • macOS and Windows endpoint administration; Windows management with AutoPilot, Intune, Entra ID.
  • Knowledge of identity protocols: SAML, OAuth, OIDC, SCIM.
  • Scripting in Python, Bash/Zsh, and PowerShell.
  • Cloud knowledge across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Product mindset: infrastructure like code, user-centric thinking.
  • Security mindset: guardrails in code; secure path is the fast path.
  • Strong communication with engineers, security pros, and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving; ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Certifications such as Google Workspace Admin, CISSP, CompTIA, or equivalent.
  • Experience scaling IT in fast-growing or multi-entity environments.
  • Proven track record leading projects across teams.
  • Ownership and accountability for critical internal systems.
  • Location: in-office four days per week in Toronto, Ontario.
