Job title: Information Systems Architect
About the Role Canonical is hiring an Information Systems Architect to define best practice in infrastructure as code at a global scale. You will own the design of hardware and software implementation from PCI lanes to CDN and lead SRE and Data Center Engineers to embrace modern operating principles. This is a home-based role with remote EMEA focus and periodic travel to company events.
What You'll Do
- Define, gain buy-in for, and implement a holistic vision of a world-class internal cloud.
- Set up, maintain and update the technical design roadmap and guidelines for SREs within IS to improve reliability, resilience, operational scalability and technical scalability.
- Collaborate with cloud-ops software development teams to provide input for roadmap, requirements and prioritization to build a standardized and automated operation.
- Provide IS management with input and advice on technology choices, reliability, resilience and business cases.
- Lead technical choices to implement self-service solutions, ensuring scalable operation.
- Guide and coach the IS team on automation, reliability, and security; work on network infrastructure.
- Partner with product security teams to align on security requirements and best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Strong track record defining and implementing infrastructure as code at global scale across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Leadership experience guiding SRE and DCE teams and driving a DevOps culture.
- Expertise in hardware and software infrastructure design, including cloud, data center networking and security.
- Experience with automation, reliability engineering, scalability and incident management.
- Ability to collaborate with product teams and security to align technology, reliability and business cases.
- Comfortable working remotely in the EMEA region and travel up to ~4 weeks per year.
