About this role
Job title: Industry X - Senior OT Architect | Senior Manager Business Architecture Manager | Senior Level | Full time
About the Role Industry X practice at Accenture is seeking a hands-on technical OT architect who can operate on the plant floor and in control rooms, bridging OT and IT to modernize manufacturing environments. You will design and implement architectures that connect edge to cloud, lead small delivery teams, and drive tangible production improvements in live facilities.
What You'll Do
- Assess clients' current manufacturing technology landscapes (MES, SCADA, PLC, DCS, historian systems) and define target state architectures bridging OT and IT.
- Design integration architectures across ISA 95 levels, covering edge, on-premises, and cloud components.
- Build digital manufacturing roadmaps grounded in technical feasibility, sequencing investments around uptime, legacy dependencies, and cybersecurity.
- Translate plant floor needs into solution designs that engineering, IT, and business stakeholders can align on.
- Develop business cases quantifying value of modernization (OEE, quality gains, reduced downtime).
- Lead small delivery teams through full lifecycle implementation, from requirements and design to commissioning and hypercare in live production environments.
- Serve as the technical authority on engagements, guiding vendor selections, platform decisions, and build-vs-buy tradeoffs.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years in or with manufacturing environments, with direct exposure to plant floor operations and industrial infrastructure.
- Minimum 5 years designing or delivering integration architectures across ERP, MES, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and DCS.
- Bonus points for roles such as Controls Engineer, Plant Systems Architect, Industrial Automation Architect, Smart Manufacturing Architect, OT Architect, IIoT Architect, or Digital Plant Lead.
- Proven experience architecting manufacturing use cases (predictive maintenance, quality inspection, production scheduling, digital twin, overall equipment effectiveness).
- Working knowledge of ISA 95 and ISA 88, industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, PROFINET), and data flow from Level 0 through Level 4.
- Familiarity with OT cybersecurity (network segmentation, Purdue Model concepts, IEC 62443 awareness).
- Experience deploying or piloting AI/ML in manufacturing; ability to communicate complex architectures to plant engineers, IT leadership, and executives; building business cases and transformation recommendations.
- Experience designing hybrid edge-to-cloud architectures for latency-sensitive or air-gapped environments.
- Hands-on experience deploying AWS, Azure, or GCP in industrial contexts.
- Familiarity with microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), or serverless patterns.
- Experience with digital thread or digital twin platforms in production environments.
- Commissioning systems on plant floors, factory acceptance testing, and managing brownfield/greenfield integration.
Nice to Have
- Prior role as a Controls Engineer, Plant Systems Architect, Industrial Automation Architect, Smart Manufacturing Architect, OT Architect, IIoT Architect, or Digital Plant Lead.
- Experience with AI/ML solutions in manufacturing contexts.
- Strong OT cybersecurity principles knowledge, including Purdue Model concepts and IEC 62443 awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex architectures clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with digital twin platforms and their application in production.
- Hands-on experience with cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) in industrial contexts and edge-to-cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with digital thread, microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, and serverless patterns.
Compensation & Benefits Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide range of factors. Travel varies by project phase and client needs, ranging from minimal to full time on site at client manufacturing facilities during critical delivery periods.
